New Hope Community Church, located in southwest Calgary, Alberta, was planted by Mission Calgary, a Key City Initiative church planting project of the Alberta Conference of Mennonite Brethren and Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. Kevin and Teresa Carruthers began serving as church planters with Mission Calgary on 15 November 2001. Eventually they formed a core group of approximately 50 people and held their first service on 19 January 2003. The church was accepted into the Alberta Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches later that year.

Attendance reached more than 200 by 2011. At that time, the meeting place was changed from Sundays at a school in Bridlewood to Saturday evenings at Covenant Church in Millrise.

Carruthers resigned as pastor in January 2015 and the congregation held its last service on 28 February 2015.
