National Association of Evangelicals (USA)
The National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) in the USA was founded in 1944 as a conservative counterpart to the National Council of the Churches of Christ in America, representing some 3,000,000 American Christians belonging largely to the smaller, strictly orthodox evangelical denominations in the United States, the moderate wing of the Fundamentalist movement. From the beginning the Mennonite Brethren, the Evangelical Mennonites (now Fellowship of Evangelical Churches), and the Brethren in Christ were denominational members. The NAE has a series of subsidiary and affiliated organizations, to which its denominational members may or may not belong, as they individually decide.
