Mount Ida Church of God in Christ, Mennonite (Enderby, British Columbia, Canada)
The Mount Ida Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation between Enderby and Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada had its beginning in 1962 when families from the Abbotsford congregation began purchasing farms in the area. The Jake Loetkeman family was one of the first to arrive in January 1962. Originally primary vocations were dairy and beef farming, logging, trucking, and construction. Over the years occupations became more diverse.
Early services were held with the assistance of the Abbotsford and Linden, Alberta congregations. The congregation organized in 1964 when Jacob Baerg, a minister at Linden, moved to the area; he served as minister for five years.
The congregation built its first building in 1967, with the first service held in it on 18 June 1967. A larger church building was completed in October 1995.
Some families began to homeschool in the mid-1970s. In September 1976 parochial school classes began in a former public school building. The congregation then built the Mountain View Christian School, with occupancy in January 1980.
In 2019 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The ministers were Craig Thiessen, Bob Klassen, and Mike Damen.
