Morning Star Mennonite Fellowship (Muncie, Indiana, USA)
The Morning Star Mennonite Fellowship, Muncie, Indiana, USA, began in 1988 as a venture between Student and Young Adult Services of the Mennonite Board of Missions and the Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference. Bob and Sylvia Ewert began the work related to Ball State University and diverse community members, including persons with addictions and other issues.
The group initially met in homes and then on the Ball State campus. In the mid-1990s, Gladys Maina and Simon Mungai, a couple originally from Kenya who were graduate students at Ball State, became active leaders in the group. First, Simon, and then Gladys, were ordained for leadership in the congregation.
The congregation moved to its own facility in the early 1990s. About the same time, it began to call itself Morning Star Fellowship or Morning Star Church.
In 2022 the congregation was part of both the Central District Conference and the Indiana-Michigan Conference of Mennonite Church USA.
