Morgantown Church of the Brethren (Morgantown, West Virginia, USA)
The Morgantown Church of the Brethren in Morgantown, West Virginia, USA began as a mission outreach of the Church of the Brethren, with the assistance of the nearby Mount Union Church of the Brethren congregation. The mission opened in July 1902. Two of the ministers were Thomas H. Miller and Sylvanius Annon.
The mission initially met in a building on Virginia Avenue. A new church on Highland Avenue was dedicated on 14 August 1910. The third building on Virginia Avenue and Center Street was dedicated on 5 May 1963. Early Church of the Brethren ministers included Solomen Bucklew, Marshall Wolfe, and Obed Hamstead. Glenn Bowlby became the congregation's first full-time pastor.
In 1982 conversations began about possible affiliation with a Mennonite conference, increasing the Anabaptist emphasis in Morgantown. Formal discussion with the Allegheny Mennonite Conference began in May 1983. The congregation developed its first constitution and consulted with other congregations that were part of two denominations. Formal affiliation with the Allegheny Mennonite Conference began in January 1985.
In 2021 the congregation was part of the Allegheny Mennonite Conference of Mennonite Church USA and the West Marva District of the Church of the Brethren. The minister was Wes Bergen.
