Michiel Ratgheers (d. 1563)

Michiel Ratgheers, an Anabaptist martyr, burned at the stake at Skis, Dutch Zeeland Flanders, on 15 March 1563. Michiel, who was born in Aardenburg near Sluis, and who was a basketmaker by trade, had stayed for some time at Bruges, Belgium, where he was arrested because of Anabaptism. He recanted and was released, but later he continued to speak slightingly of the Roman Catholic sacraments, particularly the practice of infant baptism.
