Meihuizen, Hendrik Wiebes (1906-1983)

Hendrik Wiebes Meihuizen, b. 29 August 1906, d. 26 November 1983,  was pastor of the Mennonite congregations at Wieringen (1933) Veendam-Pekela (1936), and The Hague (1938). From 1965 to 1976 he was lecturer in the history of Anabaptists and Mennonites at the Amsterdam Mennonite Theological Seminary.

He published the following volumes: Galenus Abrahams 1622-1706: Strijder voor een onbeperkte verdraagzaamheid en verdediger van het Doperse Spiritualisme (Haarlem, 1954); Menno Simons: IJveraar voor het herstel van de nieuwtestamentische gemeente, 1496-1561 (Haarlem, 1961); and Van Mantz tot Menno: de verbreiding van de doperse beginselen (Amsterdam, 1975). He also published the first critical edition of Menno Simons Foundation Book (Menno Simons, Dat Fundament Des Christelycken Leers [The Hague, 1967]. He was working on an edition of the complete theological works of Menno Simons at the time of his death.
