Meadow Grove Old Order Mennonite Meetinghouse (West Montrose, Ontario, Canada)
The Meadow Grove Old Order Mennonite district near West Montrose, Ontario, Canada had its roots in the Winterbourne church district that had been divided into three districts because of crowding in the meetinghouse. In late 2015 a decision was made to build a new meetinghouse north and east of Winterbourne.
In 2016 the building committee recommended a site on the Orvie Brubacher farm. The first service was held on Ascension Day (May 25), 2017.
Meadow Grove started with over 33 households.
An accurate count of members is not always available because Old Order Mennonites think of themselves as members of the church at large and not just the immediate congregation. The Old Order also do not see the quantity of members as indicative of the congregation's importance. When people move from one geographical area to another, they automatically "belong to" the congregation whose meetinghouse is closest to their home. No membership transfer takes place from the former location.
