Matsita Matsi (20th century)
Matsitsa Matsi was born at the village of Mwini-Kenge (Belgian Congo, now Democratic Republic of Congo). He received Christ and was baptized at Panzi (1942). In 1955 he married Tandu; they had eight living children. Matsitsa attended primary school (1945-1948), taught primary school at Panzi (1949-1950), and attended the pastors' school at the Baptist Mission Kimpese (1950-1954). From 1954 to 1960 he taught at the Baptist Mission Moanza and during the next three years directed the primary school at Panzi. Matsitsa then served as assistant legal representative for the Mennonite Brethren conference (Communauté des Églises de Frères Mennonites au Congo), 1961-1978. He was inspector of the Mennonite Brethren schools (1963-1975) and accountant for government schools (1975-1977). Following 1976 he was a counselor for Mennonite Brethren conference school teachers (1977-1987), part-time treasurer of the Mennonite Brethren conference (1982-1984), and assistant pastor of the Basonde and Kimwanga church in Kikwit (1985- ).
