Masuria (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Poland)
Masuria (Mazuria, Mazury, Masuren), Poland, is a lake area in the southeastern part of the former German province of East Prussia, and was one of the territories early settled by Anabaptist refugees from Holland. The little extant information indicates that they settled primarily in the vicinity of Johannisburg about 1535, but were soon compelled to leave their homes there.
