Maple View Church of God in Christ (St. Marys, Ontario, Canada)
The Maple View Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation in St. Marys, Ontario, Canada was established after exploration for establishing a new congregation in Ontario took place in 1960 by members of the Greenland congregation in Manitoba. The Ed Toews family was the first to move in December 1960. Other families, including that of Minister Clifford Penner, arrived in 1961. The congregation formally organized on 1 November 1961 and chose the name Maple View because of the number of maple trees in the area.
Most families have been involved in mixed farming, while others were involved in the carpentry and electrical trades. Still others were involved in small manufacturing and retail businesses.
The congregation rented church facilities of other denominations until March 1967 when it moved into its own church building. Members of the congregation helped to establish the Sunrise congregation in 1992.
The congregation established the Maple View School in 1977.
In 2020 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The minister was Doug Schneider.
