Maliapen, an epithet given the Mennonites around Hoorn in West Friesland, Netherlands, "because of their enormous stupidity," according to the statement of the notorious heresy judge W. D. Lindanus in his book, Dubitantius de vera certaque, etc. The term is probably derived from "malle apen" or "japen" (dull monkeys, or stupid fellows).
