Majestic View Mennonite Church (Greeley, Colorado, USA)
The Majestic View Mennonite Church in Greeley, Colorado, USA was established in 1967. The congregation started when Gerald Mininger, a Church of God in Christ, Mennonite minister, inspired a number of families from Winton, California and other places to explore Greeley as a new settlement. In addition to farming opportunities, a number of small industries offered opportunities.
Sunday school began in homes. In March 1968 the congregation organized and rented a building for its services. In July 1969 the congregation purchased a former Lutheran church building on the corner of 4th Avenue and 11th Street. By 1972 it became necessary to add Sunday school rooms and a nursery.
The congregation underwent theological controversy in the 1970s and withdrew from the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. In about 1978 it joined the Rocky Mountain Conference of the Mennonite Church (MC). It soon began conversations with the Mennonite Church of Greeley, also a member of the Rocky Mountain Conference, about a potential merger. In 1983 the congregations merged as the Greeley Mennonite Church, using the former Majestic View Mennonite Church building.
