Jakob Möllinger, a famous Mennonite clockmaker, was born 4 December 1695 at Dühren, Germany, oldest son of Vincenz Möllinger, died 17 January 1763, at Neustadt on the Haardt, Palatinate, Germany. His shop was said to have been one of the most important in all Germany. It produced the "Altpörtl-Uhr" in Speyer and the handsome clock in the Dreifaltigkeitskirche in Worms (the latter is now in a museum at Worms; see Wormser Zeitung, No. 552). A census list of Mennonites of 1743 indicated that he had six sons, one of whom was court clockmaker to the Count of Wartenberg.
