Las Animas Church of God in Christ, Mennonite (Las Animas, Colorado, USA)
The Las Animas Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation in Las Animas, Colorado, USA was established in 1912. The congregation started when families from more established congregations settled on small farms that raised crops like alfalfa and sugar beets.
The small congregation met in the local school. The only minister who lived locally for a time was Tobias A. Unruh. The settlement ultimately failed by 1918 because it was very isolated, and the area was not large enough to accommodate expansion. After Tobias Unruh returned to the Lone Tree congregation in Kansas, no other ministers took his place.
