Lakin Church of God in Christ, Mennonite (Lakin, Kansas, USA)
The Lakin Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation southeast of Lakin, Kansas, USA was established in 1990. The congregation started partly as an extension of the Grant Mennonite Church near Ulysses, Kansas.
The first families purchased land in the area in 1988 and the first family moved in 1989. The congregation formally organized on 24 November 1990. Initially, it used a rented church in Lakin for some meetings but travelled to the Grant congregation for Sunday morning worship. It soon purchased land on which there was a building that was renovated for use as a church. The first service in this building took place on 28 April 1991.
Initially, children from the congregation attended the Western Plains Christian School in Ulysses. In 1997 the Lakin congregation added classrooms to the church building and opened the Rolling Hills Christian School.
In 2020 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The ministers were Derek Johnson, Kyle Koehn, and Galen Williams.
