Lakeview Church of God in Christ, Mennonite (Stettler, Alberta, Canada)
The Lakeview Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation near Stettler, Alberta, Canada was established in 1966. The congregation began when families began to move to the area from the Linden, Alberta congregation in 1964. Sunday school was held in homes, and visiting ministers from Linden or Edberg held worship services about monthly.
Minister Dewey Unruh moved to the community in 1966 and served as the resident pastor. The small congregation began to use a old union church building that had been built by early settlers in the area. In 1969 the chapel from the Sunchild Mission at Rocky Mountain House, Alberta was given to the Lakeview congregation when the mission closed. It was placed over a basement with an entrance added. The location of this building was 12 miles south and three miles west of Stettler.
In 1977 the congregation built the Lakeview Christian School at a centralized location. In 1983-84 it built a new church building at the school site, with the first worship service held 6 May 1984.
In 2019 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The ministers were Keith Klassen and Lorne Toews; there were 121 members.
