Konteniusfeld (Molotschna Mennonite Settlement, Zaporizhia Oblast, Ukraine)

Konteniusfeld (Conteniusfeld), a Mennonite village of the Molotschna settlement in the Ukraine, Russia, founded in 1821, was named after Samuel Kontenius. It was located 10 miles (16 km) from Stulayevo, a railway station, comprised 6,356 acres of land before the Revolution. The village's population before World War I was 507. The principal industries were the culture of wheat, cattle, fruit, and bees. The village had an elementary school. Formerly there was a large shop which manufactured farm machinery.
