Koenen, Abraham (18th century)
Abraham Koenen, from 1725-ca.1765 a preacher of the Dutch Mennonite congregation of Hazerswoude, was asked to intermediate in the United Flemish, High German, and Frisian congregation of Danzig, West Prussia, where a schism had arisen between its elder Hendrik van Duren (van Dühren) and some of his fellow preachers supported by a large part of the congregation. Koenen stayed in Danzig from September 1740 until May 1741 and succeeded in restoring peace. Called to be elder of the Danzig congregation (November 1740), Koenen refused the call, preferring to return to his home congregation.
