Johann Kliewer: elder; born 1 August 1852 in Polnisch Wionczemin, Prussia, the ninth of 12 children of Peter Heinrich Kliewer (22 June 1803, Nieszewka, Prussia - 13 August 1869, Deutsch Wionczemin, Prussia) and Maria (Schroeder) Kliewer (30 March 1817, Markowczyzna, Deutsch Kazun, Poland - 26 March 1861, Deutsch Wionczemin, Prussia); Johann's father also had four children from his first marriage to Agneta Kopper (ca. 1805-1835). On 22 May 1876 Johann married Emilie Wohlgemuth (14 April 1858, Deutsch-Wymysle, Poland - 3 April 1930, Deutsch-Wymysle, Poland), daughter of Heinrich Wohlgemuth and Anna (Foth) Wohlgemuth. Johann and Emilie had 13 children, including 8 that died in infancy or childhood. Johann died on 25 January 1942 in Deutsch-Wymysle.

Kliewer was one of the last elders of the Deutsch-Wymysle Mennonite Church (Poland). He was ordained elder in 1885 and joined the local newly established Mennonite Brethren congregation on 17 July 1893, where he continued his service as a minister. On 4 November 1895 he was ordained co-elder of the congregation. The Deutsch-Wymysle Mennonite Church chose Johann Schmidt as his successor. He also joined the Mennonite Brethren.
