Jacob Claesz van der Veer, a Dutch Anabaptist martyr who lived at Utrecht outside the St. Catharine's Gate. In 1533 he had received (re)baptism, but in July 1534 before the Court he retracted his "error" in order to save his life; yet he remained in contact with the Anabaptists. For this fact, and especially because he read heretical (i.e., Anabaptist) books which he had bought in Amsterdam, he was sentenced to death and beheaded at Utrecht on 13 March 1535.
