Iglesia Seguidores de Cristo (Sarasota, Florida, USA)
The Iglesia Seguidores de Cristo (Followers of Christ Church), in Sarasota, Florida, USA is composed of Latin American immigrants from different countries, including Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, and Costa Rica, who came to Sarasota without a host community to support them. Over the years the congregation has also opened Bible studies in Tampa, Bradenton, and Gaimamy.
In 2020 as early as 4:00 am each morning, leaders and other members of the congregation gathered to pray. On weekends in addition to prayer, the church held youth services, fasted, worshiped, participated in evangelistic programs, and accompanied immigrant families who received difficult news from their countries of birth.
In 2020 the pastor was Juan Jose Rivera.
Initially, the congregation was part of the Southeast Mennonite Conference, but that regional conference withdrew from Mennonite Church USA to become a district of LMC (Lancaster Mennonite Conference). Iglesia Seguidores de Cristo, along with seven other congregations, chose to affiliate with the Mosaic Mennonite Conference that remained part of Mennonite Church USA.
