The Iglesia Menonita Nuevo Amanecer (New Dawning Mennonite Church) began in 2018 as a prayer group at Maria Bennett's home in Brownsville, Texas. The congregation became part of the South Central Mennonite Conference of Mennonite Church USA.

In 2023, the South Central Mennonite Conference withdrew from Mennonite Church USA and, in 2024, chose to become a district of LMC: a Fellowship of Anabaptist Churches. Iglesia Menonita Nuevo Amanecer thus became part of LMC.
