Iglesia Menonita Centro Cristiano (Washington, Iowa, USA)
The Iglesia Menonita Centro Cristiano, Washington, Iowa, USA, began in 2011 as an outreach to Hispanic immigrants in Iowa. Ramiro and Martha Hernandez were the founding leaders. In August 2011, the developing congregation, along with seven other congregations in Iowa and Nebraska, made a covenant of mutual support for ministry among the Hispanic population in Washington, Iowa. The covenant stated as its aim "that this partnership will develop into a robust relationship that will foster growth and renew the missional imagination of all parties involved."
The group has met Sunday afternoon in the Washington Mennonite Church building. Members have been active in the Instituto Bíblico Anabautista (IBA) program.
Although many people have participated in the life of the congregation, initially, the group seldom numbered more than ten. Eventually, people would feel the need to move due to fears of detention and deportation. By 2016, Iglesia Menonita Centro Cristiano numbered about 30, including children.
In 2023 the congregation was part of the Central Plains Conference of Mennonite Church USA.
