Herold Book and Publishing Company (Newton, Kansas, USA)
Herold Book and Publishing Company, the successor to the Western Book and Publishing Company, was organized 2 October 1909, with the following as directors: H. P. Krehbiel, C. E. Krehbiel, J. W. Krehbiel, D. R. Krehbiel, G. A. Haury, Jacob H. Richert, John C. Goering, J. P. Andres, and J. H. Epp. Officers were: H. P. Krehbiel president, G. A. Haury vice-president, and C. E. Krehbiel secretary-treasurer. H. P. Krehbiel was elected as manager and C. E. Krehbiel as editor. The company maintained the Bee Hive Book Store at 508 Main Street, Newton, Kansas, and published Der Herold, besides doing custom printing.
On 4 August 1914, the Herold store building and stock were destroyed by a fire. The company was then moved to 722 Main Street, where a new building was erected. The company was dissolved 1 December 1919, and the store building sold to H. P. and C. E. Krehbiel. Final liquidation of the assets of the company was made in May 1926. Meanwhile, the Herald Publishing Company had been organized to carry on the publication and bookstore enterprises of the Herold Book and Publishing Company.
