Heart Valley Church of God in Christ, Mennonite (Wanham, Alberta, Canada)
The Heart Valley Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Wanham, Alberta began when families from the Rosedale (Crooked Creek) congregation began to rent land near Wanham in 1959. The properties were then bought and the settlement grew.
Initially Sunday school was held in homes. In 1963 a small building was moved 20 km south and five km east of Wanham to serve as a church. The congregation formally organized that same year. There was not a resident pastor until Peter I. Thiessen, a minister at Crooked Creek, moved to Wanham. When the church building became too small, the congregation in 1975 erected a new building five km west of the first church.
The congregation operates Heart Valley Christian School which began in 1976 in the basement of the church. The first church building was then moved to the new church's property and served as a school. A new school building was erected in 1986.
Minister Roy Toews served in 2001 as a non-salaried congregation leader, while Timothy Koehn and Lorne Toews served as ministers in 2010.
