The Hahnsau and Popovka Mennonite Brethren Church was located at Hahnsau, Trakt settlement, Samara, Russia. It was begun about 1860 by B. Bekker, Jacob P. Bekker, H. Bartel, and Otto Forchhammer. In 1874 the group was accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Conference as the Hahnsau and Popovka M.B. Church.

Hahnsau was a village of the Trakt Mennonite settlement, and Popovka was a Lutheran village in the vicinity. It was here that differences of opinion existed as to whether the Holy Kiss or Sister Kiss was to be practiced between brethren and sisters. Among the leaders were Eckert, Hahnhart, and Borchdorf. The first two were leaders also in Kansas. In the 1870s most of them came to Kansas, settling near Marion, where some of them joined the Mennonite Brethren Church and others the Baptist Church. Those remaining in Russia joined the Baptists. By 1885 the Hahnsau and Popovka Mennonite Brethren Church no longer existed. However, a new Mennonite Brethren group was apparently started there in later years, about which little information is available. Before World War I, itinerant Mennonite Brethren ministers visited the settlement and organized an Mennonite Brethren group.
