Hadewyck (Hadewijk) was a Dutch Anabaptist woman. Her husband, a soldier, being compelled to be present at the execution of the Dutch Anabaptist martyr Sicke Freerks at Leeuwarden, was so outraged by this fact, that he accused the Catholic Church and had to flee to save his life. After the flight of her husband (1531) Hadewyck became converted and united with the congregation of Leeuwarden, was arrested there in January 1549 with Elisabeth Dirks, but escaped.
