Gruwel, Barend (16th century)

Barend Gruwel (Grouwel), prior of the Dominican cloister at Zwolle, Netherlands, was appointed inquisitor of the territory of Gelre. In this capacity he was active in the trial of Maria and Ursula van Beckum in 1544. He also made investigations into Anabaptist "heresy" at Zutfen in 1549.
