Glacier Hutterite Colony was founded in 1951 as a division from the Elm Spring Hutterite Colony.

Daughter colonies of the Glacier Hutterite Colony include: Cascade Hutterite Colony (Fort Shaw, Montana, USA); and Zenith Hutterite Colony (Cut Bank, Montana, USA).

In 2017 Glacier Hutterite Colony was a Lehrerleut colony.
