First Mennonite Church of Broken Bow (Broken Bow, Nebraska, USA)
First Mennonite Church of Broken Bow (formerly Broken View Mennonite Church (Mennonite Church (MC)) was located four miles (6.5 km) north and two miles (three km) northeast of Broken Bow, Nebraska. It was organized in June 1923 by Daniel Lapp. In 1926 the Nebraska Sunday School Conference passed a motion inviting the Broken Bow Sunday School to join the conference.
For many years Sunday school was held weekly, but worship services held only when visiting ministers were present. Perhaps monthly, a minister would come from the Wood River congregation.
In 1953 it had 46 members, with Royden Schweitzer as minister. Its meetinghouse was built in 1938/39.
In 1958 it moved into the town of Broken Bow at North 16th and B Street. It built a new church and sold the former building. The congregation changed its name to First Mennonite Church of Broken Bow in 1983/84 when it built another new building in town.
First Mennonite Church of Broken Bow closed in 1998; the last pastor was Alvin B. Eichelberger.
