Familien-Kalender, an annual Mennonite (Mennonite Church) almanac, was published 1870-1940, at Elkhart 1870-1908 by the Mennonite Publishing Company (1870-1875 by J. F. Funk and Brother), and at Scottdale 1909-1940 by the Mennonite Publishing House. It paralleled the Family Almanac, containing the same almanac calculations (prepared by L. J. Heatwole of Dale Enterprise, Virginia, for many years) and a directory of Mennonite ordained men (1909-1940). The literary and historical miscellany was different in the two annuals. John Horsch was the editor 1909-1940. The earlier issues had 36 pages, the later ones 64, always including a small amount of advertising.
