The Emmanuel Living Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, emerged from Jeremiah Chuiha's contact with Mennonite Max Ediger in Thailand in 1999. Chuiha arrived as a refugee in the United States in 2010 and became pastor of the Emmanuel Living Christian Church, which is composed of Chin refugees from the Dai tribe.

Jeremiah Chuiha connected with Mennonites because of his memories from Thailand. He came in contact with Brian Bither, a pastor at Shalom Mennonite Church in Indianapolis.

The Chin congregation was introduced to the Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference of Mennonite Church USA in 2016 and was accepted as a member in 2017.
