El Campo Church of God in Christ, Mennonite (El Campo, Texas, USA)
The El Campo Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation in El Campo, Texas, USA was established in 1978. The congregation started when families began to move to the area in search of opportunities in land leveling, farming, and carpentry. The first family arrived in 1969, with other families coming in the mid-1970s.
The congregation formally organized on 29 January 1978, though minister Norman Koehn had moved to the area from Montezuma, Kansas in August 1977 to serve the budding congregation. The group met jointly with the families in Victoria until that group formed its own congregation in the early 1990s.
The congregation built a church in El Campo in 1980; previously, it had met in various rental locations.
The El Campo Mennonite School began in 1981.
In 2020 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The ministers were Staven Schmidt and Jeff Giesel.
