The Edberg Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Edberg, Alberta had its origins in a colonization church plant led by families from the Linden, Alberta congregation. In April 1959 five families purchased farms in the Edberg area. Soon other families moved from Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba.

In 1960 the group bought a church building and moved it to a hill three km. south of Edberg. In 1962 they added a cloakroom and nursery. In 1965 they built a new building which was dedicated 20 March 1966. In 1983 this building was moved to Dewberry, and another new church was built.

The group operates the Countryside Christian School which began in 1977. A new school was built in 1979 adjacent to the church.

In 1999 most in the congregation made their living from farming. Primary crops were wheat, barley and canola. Those with livestock raised beef cattle, hogs, and broilers.
