Dijk, van, family name

Van Dijk, a common Dutch family name, also Mennonite. Besides Jan van Dijk, another Jan van Dijk was a preacher of the Danzig Old Flemish church in Amsterdam in 1727-ca. 1754, as was his son Pieter van Dijk (d.1803) in 1754-89. There was also a Mennonite van Dijk family at Hamburg, Germany. Sara van Dijk (1714-60) of this family in 1737 married Herman Rahusen (1697-1760).
