Crofton New Order Amish Settlement (Crofton, Kentucky, USA)
The Crofton New Order Amish settlement near Crofton, Kentucky, USA was established in 1972. The settlement started when families from Mountain View, Missouri purchased land near Crofton after looking elsewhere in Christian County, Kentucky. Other families came later from the Kalona, Iowa area.
The settlement in 2014 included farmers, pallet shops, carpenters, a bulk food store, saw mills and moulding shops.
Mahlon Schrock was the first minister in the settlement. Minister Herman E. Miller moved to Crofton in 1981.
In 2014 the settlement was part of the New Order Amish. The bishops were Marvin M. Yoder and Andy Schlabach. There were two districts with a total of 59 family units.
The Crofton Amish School began in 1976 in a converted home. A new two-room schoolhouse on the same property was built in 1994.
The Crofton New Order Amish settlement uses meetinghouses instead of meeting in homes.
