Cornelisz, Claes (16th/17th century)
Claes Cornelisz was author of Een klare vertooninghe vant verschael ende onderscheyt datter is tusschen die ghenaemde vereenichde Ghemeente ende die Evangelische leeringhe Christi ende sijn Apostelen (Amsterdam, 1616). In this book Cornelisz, who was a member and presumably a deacon of the Waterlander congregation of Amsterdam, combats the conservative views of a United Frisian and High German branch of the Mennonites called the Afgedeelden; he particularly takes his stand against the interdiction of buitentrouw (outside marriage). His son Cornelis Claesz was a preacher of the Waterlander church in Amsterdam in the first half of the 17th century.
