Clarksdale Mennonite Church (Clarksdale, Mississippi, USA)
The Clarksdale Mennonite Church south of Clarksdale, Mississippi, USA, was established in 1967. The congregation started when families began to move to this part of the Mississippi Delta in 1963 to work in the landforming industry.
For a time, the small group near Clarksdale met with a similar group in West Helena, Arkansas, about 25 miles from Clarksdale. Eventually, the West Helena group moved to Clarksdale. For a time, the group worshipped in a small Nazarene church building. In 1966 a large house on Mississippi Street was rented and remodeled to serve as a church building. The Bethany Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, was formally organized in 1967. As the congregation grew, land was purchased on the northern side of town, and a building was constructed with the first service held on 13 May 1973. In 1974 the congregation changed its name to Clarksdale Mennonite Church. In about 2002, the congregation moved to its present location six miles south of Clarksdale, the location of the church's school.
The Clarksdale Mennonite School began in a mobile home in 1974. A modular building was moved to its present location two years later. A new building was erected at the site in 1989.
In 2020 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The ministers were Charles Unruh, Nolan Ratzlaff, and Orie Koehn.
