Claes van Alkmaar (d. 1535)

Claes van Alkmaar, a Dutch Anabaptist, was one of the twelve apostles sent out by Jan Matthys in late 1533. Claes went to Groningen, where soon afterward the Zandt rebellion of the Anabaptists took place. Later he was in Münster, and from there returned to Groningen. He may also have preached in Delft. In November 1535 he was imprisoned in Bergen op Zoom (Dutch province of Brabant), and was executed in December of that year.
