City Missions Committee of the Mennonite Brethren Church of North America
The City Missions Committee of the Mennonite Brethren Conference of North America. Among those participating in the organization of this committee in 1907 were J. I. Kliewer of Henderson, Nebraska, and N. N. Hiebert and J. C. Dick of Mountain Lake, Minnesota. The work of the committee consisted of directing the city missions in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Winnipeg, Manitoba. Its annual budget in 1950 was $16,000. It submited annual reports to the general conference of the church. Since most of the city missions founded in the second quarter of the 20th century remained under the district conferences, the field of work of the City Missions Committee remained limited. Each of the district conferences operated one or more city missions directly.
