Chortitza River

Chortitza (Khortitsa, Chortitz), a tributary of the Dnieper River (Ukraine), on which the Mennonites settled in 1789 naming the first village after the stream. The village of Chortitza developed into a most significant center, so that the whole district became known as the Chortitza settlement.
