The [[Amsterdam Mennonite Library (Bibliotheek en Archief van de Vereenigde Doopsgezinde Gemeente te Amsterdam)|Amsterdam Mennonite library]] possesses an old catalog in manuscript, dating from the 17th century: Catalogus der boeken op de kerkekamer bewaard, meerendeels Mennonitica. In 1796 Prof. Hesselink made a systematic catalog, which he provided with a Latin preface. This manuscript was not printed, however, as seems to have been the intention (Hoop Scheffer, Jacob Gijsbert de, II, 618). There was no printed catalog before 1854. In this year Prof. Samuel Muller edited a catalog of the rich and valuable collection of the Amsterdam Mennonite Library, as far as it deals with Mennonite history: Catalogus van Doopsgezinde Geschriften behoorende tot de bibliotheek der Ver. Doopsgez. Gemeente te Amsterdam (Amsterdam, 1854, 72 pp.). In 1885-88 J. G. de Hoop Scheffer, also of the Seminary faculty, prepared a Catalogus van de Bibliotheek der Vereenigde Doopsgezinde Gemeente te Amsterdam, in two volumes, containing the titles of all the books of the library: Vol. I, theology in general and philosophy (1885, 430 pp.); Vol. II, (a) Teleiobaptistica (books dealing with Mennonite history, as well as books written by Mennonites); (b) Oude en nieuwe letteren (1888, 481 pp.). In 1919 J. G. Boekenoogen published a Catalogus der werken over de Doopsgezinden en hunne Geschiedenis aanwezig in de Bibliotheek der Ver. Doopsgez. Gemeente te Amsterdam (Amsterdam, 1919, 375 pp.). Of this catalog the Mennonite Historical Society of Goshen College published an Index in mimeographed form (Goshen, 1950, 64 pp.).
