Calhoun County Old Order Amish Settlement (Calhoun County, Michigan, USA)
The Calhoun County (Michigan) Old Order Amish settlement was a small group located in the southeastern part of the county near Homer. The original settlers, the Amos J. Christner family, came from Lagrange Co., Indiana; others came later from Daviess Co., Indiana, and St. Joseph County, Michigan. Preacher Alvin J. Yoder moved to the community in late 1941. Church services have been held since 1 December 1941. In 1949 Alvin J. Yoder was serving as resident minister, and Henry N. Miller of Middlebury, Indiana, had bishop oversight. The last church service was held in 1950, as families moved away. Alvin J. Yoder moved to Jay County, Indiana during that year.
