Burkholder, Hans (b. ca. 1617)

The oldest known member of the entire Burkholder family was a Hans Burkholder "aus den Schniggenen" in the canton of Bern, born around 1617. Of him is only known that he was to be deported to Holland with 12 companions, but escaped from prison 26 November 1658. A few years later he was seized again, but again managed to escape in 1669. Eventually, in 1671, he emigrated into the Palatinate together with his wife and seven children. Most likely he settled in Kriegsheim.
