Boa Esperança Church of God in Christ, Mennonite (Boa Esperança do Norte, Mato Grosso, Brazil)

The Boa Esperança Church of God in Christ, Mennonite congregation in Boa Esperança do Norte, Mato Grosso, Brazil, was established in August 1996. The congregation started when the original Church of God in Christ, Mennonite settlers in Brazil sought land for the younger generation of settler families.

The Kramer family and several others bought land in the Boa Esperança area in 1993, and families began to move there in 1994. A modest school building was erected in 1996.

The location was very difficult for agricultural settlers. The roads were poor and the land was not cleared for agricultural purposes. There was no electricity so generators had to be acquired to provide some comforts. The nearest village was 45 km. away (a 1 1/2 hour drive), and the larger city of Sorriso was 180 km. away. Heavy rains could quickly make the roads impassable.

In 2019 the congregation was part of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. The minister was David Kramer; there were 56 members.
