The Jane Finch Faith Community was first known as the Black Creek Faith Community. Pastors Clayton Kuepfer and Amy Kuepfer served in 2008 as congregational leaders. In 1995 there were 10 members; in 2000, 22. The congregation has been affiliated with the Mennonite Church Eastern Canada (MCEC) (1993-) and the Conference of Mennonites in Canada / Mennonite Church Canada (1995-). The language of worship is English.

The congregation formally organized in 1993. Dalton Jantzi is considered the founding leader of the group; he began a chaplaincy program in the building in 1980. He continued to serve as chaplain and pastor until 1997 when he was set back from leadership by MCEC for "“sexual boundary violation[s].” The congregation originated through outreach by the Missions Committee of the Mennonite Conference of Ontario and Quebec.

Jane Finch was a small church, with a chapel in a high-rise building that is home to over 1,200 people from at least 50 countries. It did not met officially for a number of years, and was declared closed at the Mennonite Church Eastern Canada annual meeting on 25 April 2020.
