The Bethel Home for the Aged, Newton, Kansas, was owned and operated by the Bethel Deaconess Home and Hospital Society also of Newton, an organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Kansas on 30 March 1903. The object of the society, as stated in the charter, was to establish and maintain a deaconess home and hospital and to build, maintain, and support other benevolent, charitable, or educational undertakings.

The management of the home was delegated to a committee of three, known as the Committee on Management, appointed annually, one member each year, by the board of directors of the society immediately following the annual meeting of the corporation. An Advisory Council of five members deliberated and acted with the Committee on Management and to help form and develop policies. This council was created as follows: The Bethel Deaconess Home and Hospital Society elected two men and one woman into the council, one member annually, for a term of three years; the Women's Auxiliary of the hospital elected two members for the council, one member annually, for a term of two years.

The home in the early 1950s provided room for 70 aged people and the persons needed for their care, a wing having been added in 1951-52. Since it opened its doors for service on 9 May 1926, it was almost constantly filled to capacity, giving a home, comfort, and nursing care to its residents.

The home received life members and temporary residents. Life members paid on the basis of their means and expectancy upon entrance to the home and were assured that all of their needs would be met. They were selected on the basis of need. Temporary residents paid a monthly rate for room, board, and nursing care. Their relationship with the home was not permanent. There were no denominational restrictions for the residents.

In 1991 the Bethel Home closed its doors and residents moved to a new home at Bethel Health Care Centre on the campus of Kidron Bethel Village retirement community located in North Newton.
