Klaus Berner, an Anabaptist martyr of Dorndorf, a village on the Werra near Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany, baptized in 1530 by Georg von Staffelstein at Herrenhof near Schmalkalden, was seized and imprisoned in Frankenhausen with ten fellow believers in the fall of 1533. He was released through recantation, but soon began again to agitate for Anabaptism. In 1534 he preached in a saw-mill near Zorge in the South Harz and soon after suffered a martyr's death.
