Berg (Barg, Baerg, Bark, Barck, Barch) family

A Mennonite family name in the Flemish congregations of West Prussia, Berg is also mentioned at Gruppe in 1692. In 1776, 16 families of this name were counted in West Prussia (without Danzig), and in 1935, 35 persons (including Elbing). Members of this family immigrated to Russia and North America. Peter H. Berg was for many years manager of the Mennonite Brethren (MB) Publishing House in Hillsboro, Kansas. The name has been found among Mennonite Brethren ministers in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Minnesota, Kansas, and Africa.
